Augmented Reality Comes to Garden State Mall Via Guinesss

NJ Tech Weekly has learned the Guinness World Records people are throwing an augmented reality (AR) event at the Garden State Plaza, Neiman Marcus Court , Paramus, NJ through Oct. 27, 2012. The event is being held to demonstrate the latest Guinness World Records 2013 edition’s new augmented reality feature, a spokesman said. At the mall, families can pose with virtual representations of World Records icons.

The technology gives visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Guinness World Records by posing next to life-sized projections of Sultan Kosen, the “Tallest Living Man” at 8 ft 3 in; Billy Leon and Benny Loyd McCrary, the “Heaviest Twins;” Ian Stewart, who holds the title for “Most Chainsaw Juggling Catches;” “Largest Predatory Fish” the Great White Shark; and sauropod Amphicoelias, the “Longest Dinosaur Ever.”

Attendees are encouraged to take pictures or video of these virtual images and share them with friends and family via social media and email. Of course, the Guinness World Records 2013 book will also be available for purchase on site.
