Each December, NJ Tech Weekly assembles a list of the most popular articles we’ve published that year. Here is our 2017 list, measured by number of hits on the site. This year the top stories were diverse.

Website visitors read about Newark and Jersey City high school students as well as tech companies that gave back to their communities. Two articles about Propelify, the big tech festival that took place in Hoboken, made the list. Articles about N.J. companies working on 5G and Artificial Intelligence, stories about N.J. startups, and stories about how Audible and IDT in Newark are doing their part to help that city become a tech mecca, rounded out the list.

And counting down:

Almost everyone who arrives in Newark via Interstate 280 can spot the IDT building at 520 Broad St. from the elevated road. It’s the building with a big bold IDT logo on top. When most folks think of IDT, they remember its days as one of the first VoIP companies. In the early 2000s, it owned a successful company called Net2Phone that specialized in international discount telecommunications. IDT sold that company for over $1 billion.

Let’s face it. Last year we weren’t sure if Aaron Price could pull it off. He had a vision for a big regional tech festival to be held on a pier on the waterfront in Hoboken.
