NJ EDA Creates NJ CoVest Fund to Provide Growth Capital to Tech, Life Sciences Companies
While funding for very early-stage tech companies has been on the rise in New Jersey, there is still a funding gap for companies in the stage between product development and commercial expansion. To help fill that gap, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA) announced the creation of the NJ CoVest Fund. This fund will only invest in companies that have patents on their products, and there are other requirements that narrow its applicability to tech startups.
Startup Roundup: SOLstreet and Cinematcher
SOLstreet founder Neha Rane brought her startup from Mumbai to Princeton, and recently launched a beta version of the website marketplace. Rane envisions the website as a better place for artisans to showcase their handmade wares. Cinematcher (West New York) launched its first app in the Apple App Store on February 20, founder and CEO Lauren Magura told NJTechWeekly.com.
