Bell Works (Holmdel) and Marketing Rival (Asbury Park) co-hosted a breakfast on July 27 at which Shannon Winning and Jennifer Smiga, the co-owners of Marketing Rival, advised the audience on how to best use social media to optimize results from events.
The breakfast was held at an NJ Strategic Design + Tech meetup at Bell Works, and the 30-plus attendees were treated to a lively presentation, followed by a question-and-answer session in which the speakers addressed the specific concerns of audience members.
During their presentation, the speakers offered pointers on social media—to be applied before, during, or after an event—that can increase the number of prospects you reach or extend the longevity of an event’s momentum.
For instance, “you can tweet, blog or post to others media offerings to keep the conversation going long after the event has ended’ said Smiga.
The two noted that, if you do enough planning in advance, the momentum from events like conferences and trade shows can present an opportunity to amplify your social presence, increase your followers and build your credibility.
They also offered advice on how to better prepare for large events, like the upcoming AWS Summit, which will take place on August 10-11 in New York City.
“Try to engage in the social media opportunities to network before the event,” said Winning. “Start the conversation before you get there, and be sure to contact key attendees who are speaking or leading learning sessions to share your interest in their work and open the door to a meeting during the event.”
Among the attendees at the breakfast was Daniel Sullivan, the new events and outreach coordinator at the NJ Tech Council.
