Undivided We Rise

June 18, 2021 @ 10:00 am EDT

Undivided We Rise is a virtual summit that brings thought leaders and influential voices together to bring awareness to digitalundivided’s vision: a world where all Black & Latinx women own their work.

Fireside: A Conversation with Arlan Hamilton

In 2015, Backstage Capital became one of the few venture capital funds that catalyzed the conversation around investing in underrepresented founders. To date — with Founder & Managing Partner Arlan Hamilton at its helm — the company has invested in more than 160 companies, opening the door to the venture capital ecosystem and leading the way for a new approach to venture capital investing. This intimate  conversation will explore Arlan Hamilton’s journey to building her firm, its impact on underserved founders, and what’s in store for the future.

Fireside: A Conversation with Natalie Madeira Cofield

As an effect of the global pandemic, our nation’s “she-cession,” has had crippling effects on women, especially women of color. As we think about rebuilding our country’s economy women of color entrepreneurs should undoubtedly be included in that conversation, and Natalie Madeira Cofield is making sure of that. As Assistant Administrator for the  Office of Women’s Business Ownership, Natalie Cofield oversees the largest expansion of the Women’s Business Center (WBC) network in the history of the Small Business Administration. In this candid fireside conversation, we dive deep on the future of entrepreneurship for women, the resources to support women-owned businesses, and her commitment to advancing women in business.

Fireside: A Conversation with Kim Lewis

Capital is one of the most significant contributors to a company’s success, yet access to it has historically been an uphill battle for small companies. However, a wave of startups, like CurlMix, are taking matters into their own hands through equity crowdfunding. This year the beauty company raised close to $3.8 million through their own crowdfunding campaign in just one month. We sit down with co-founder Kim Lewis and dive deep into her fundraising experience, the power behind equity crowdfunding, and ways in which entrepreneurs can leverage it to raise capital.

Panel: Advancing Women of Color in STEM

While many women, particularly women of color, have made great contributions to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), they are still underrepresented in STEM careers today. As we look towards the future of innovation and entrepreneurship, STEM continues to be at the forefront of driving evolution forward, we’re left wondering “how can we ensure women of color are represented in these industries?”  We bring together a dynamic panel of women of color in STEM for a candid conversation about the advancement of women of color in these fields.
