NJ Big Data Alliance to Host Symposium on Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
The New Jersey Big Data Alliance (NJBDA) was established in 2013 by a consortium of New Jersey’s prominent universities and colleges to help the then-fledgling big data field become a larger part of the New Jersey story.
The Alliance believes that sharing big data resources, training university students to become big-data experts and partnering with companies that need big-data expertise could help the New Jersey economy.
On April 5 the NJBDA will host its 6th Annual Symposium ― “The Future of Big Data: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.” This year’s event, which will take place at New Jersey City University (Jersey City), will focus on the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to transform business operations and drive new innovations and discoveries.
Keynote speakers include Manish Parashar, director of the Office of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure, National Science Foundation; and Christopher White, lab leader, algorithms, analytics and augmented intelligence, Nokia Bell Labs (Murray Hill). The symposium will also include cutting-edge research presentations on topics such as deep learning systems, data-driven behavior, improving search tools, competitive strategy frameworks and more.
For the first time, the symposium is “including academic research sessions with presentations on the latest research taking place at New Jersey universities. There will also be two workshops enabling attendees to take a deeper dive into the use of big-data/analytics in project management and in e-commerce data mining,” said Margaret Brennan-Tonetta, associate vice president for economic development at Rutgers University, and cofounder and president of the NJBDA.
She added, “Ultimately, this symposium is about educating attendees on how to uncover real value and insights from their big data and AI initiatives, enabling them to improve future outcomes.”
