NJ-Endorsed Cyber Security Competition

In the better late than never category, there is still time to register for the State of N.J.-endorsed cyber security program to be run out of Brookdale Community College, located in the Lincroft section of Middletown Township, Monmouth County.

According to a letter endorsing it written by Governor Christie, the program and scholarship competition was developed in a partnership with State of New Jersey, Brookdale Community College and the CyberAces Foundation.  CyberCenters is an entry-level competition focusing on the fundamentals of cyber security and covers three modules: Networking, Operating Systems, and System Administration.

The Winter 2012 New Jersey Cyber Competition is open to Returning Veterans, Current Members of the Armed Forces, High School Juniors and Seniors (New Jersey Only), Job Seekers and College Students in New Jersey.

For each of these three modules, CyberCenters includes a tutorial to help individuals build their skills. After a two to three week study period for each module, competitors will participate in a national competition by taking an online multiple-choice quiz. (It looks to NJTechWeekly.com that those who register now will have a shortened period of study for the first module.)

The highest scorers on these quizzes will be eligible for prizes, scholarships, and internships. Deadlines are approaching fast. For more information visit this web page.
