iSTEM Project in Edison Infuses Curriculum With Science, Tech, Engineering and Math

A pilot program called iSTEM at two Edison elementary schools attempted to infuse the curriculum in grades three through five with more science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) content according to a story by Lloyd Nelson on NJ.com.

About 450 students participated in iSTEM, using iPads and computers to create some 100 projects. The program is expected to be expanding in the coming school year, the article said.

Twenty-three teachers from the two schools attended professional development programs provided by The College of New Jersey’s Center for Excellence on STEM Education, according to the article. iSTEM is part of a larger program called Engineering by Design, based on a national curriculum model from the International Technology and Engineering Education Association.

Edison schools hope to expand science, technology, engineering program for upcoming school year
