Bill Passes to Require Copier and Scanner Hard Drive Wipes to Prevent ID Theft


To prevent identity theft, the New Jersey legislature passed a bill (A-1238) that says copiers and scanners must have their memories erased or modified before they are recycled or resold. These machines store records digitally on them.
