2017: Our Favorite NJ Tech Photos, The Ribbon Cutting Edition
The NJ tech community held hundreds of meetings. meetups, and tech talks during 2017 and NJTechWeekly.com attended many of them. We also went to numerous open houses, product launches, and ribbon cuttings. And we took photos. Lots and lots of photos. Here are photos of some of the ribbon cutting ceremonies we attended last year.
April 2017, NJIT holds ribbon cutting for Central King Building
A proud NJIT community came together with public officials including Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, to cut the ribbon on the Central King Building, formerly Newark Central High School.The building was renovated using $86 million in funds from the 2012 Building Our Future Bond Act. The renovation was the largest single project funded by New Jersey. During the ceremony, Dr. Andrew Pecora of Hackensack University Medical Center announced a collaboration with the New Jersey Innovation Institute to create the Healthcare Ideation Center, to be located in the King building, to create and launch the next wave of healthcare technology products and services. | Esther Surden
May 2017, Workwave Ribbon Cutting
WorkWave cut the ribbon on its new headquarters at Bell Works in Holmdel on May 17, and marked the occasion with speeches by public officials and others who helped make the day possible. The company brought more than 180 workers to the building that became a hub for technology-based companies. | Esther Surden
October 2017, Cutting the Ribbon on Newark Tech Week
The Newark tech community was proud to be presenting the second Newark Tech Week at 2 Gateway Center and Medina, who organized the event, cut the ribbon to officially launch it. Attendees heard about the progress Newark Fiber, a program to bring ultra-fast fiber to Newark businesses and residents, is making and then headed to the Newark Tech Summit, a networking event where folks who were building tech businesses in Newark exhibited their startups. | Esther Surden
November 2017, iCIMS Moves into Bell Works
Software-as-a-Service company iCIMS moved into a beautifully renovated space at Bell Works on November 20, and hosted an official ribbon cutting for employees, the press and friends of the company. iCIMS has taken up an entire tower in the Bell Works building, and its presence as an anchor tenant will help Bell Works fulfill its potential. Bell Works was the former ATT Bell Labs site, which sat vacant for many years. It is now full of life. | Esther Surden
December 2017, Ribbon Cutting at NJIT Makerspace
Dignitaries from Newark and the NJIT community gathered to cut the ribbon on the new NJIT Makerspace that is now open for business. The now 10,000 square foot makerspace will be open to the community and industry, but will also help NJIT students.NJIT received $10 million from the State of New Jersey for the project, which will be expanded to 20,000 square feet when completed.The facility includes equipment ranging from small 3D printers to large industrial machining centers. | Esther Surden
